Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar is the American and British sitarist. She was also the youngest and first woman to receive an award from the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a scholar and daughter of the famous Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London in the UK to New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an amazing career in music and performance. She often joins her father on stage, which she's done for quite a few years. In 1998, she released her first self-titled album Anourag. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't restricted to just music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. Also, she has appeared in. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she played a Bharat natyam dancing young girl. Anoushka Shankar's work continues to grow and we're likely to see many things from her in the years to follow. Anoushka spent a lot of time between London and Delhi throughout her childhood. Then, she relocated to California to attend high school. From the age of nine she started studying music with her father. She made her debut on the sitar 4 years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain a variety of valuable experiences as she traveled with her father on his world tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals and recording together with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament to recognize her artistry and musicianship as an outstanding musician from in the Asian Arts.
